Smelly Squealing Squad

You might know the name of Bom Ec and Cop Ec, if you’re close to us. They’re both over 10 years old. Bom Ec always describes himself as a rock star with powerful voice, but turns out to be one of the most amusing idiot and stubborn. He knows everything, but don’t berate him, as he always threatens by committing suicide. Cop Ec is a total opposite, charming, knowledgeable, humble and one of the wisest in our zoo of over 80 members. As big as Huou Giot and Den, as small as Quan Dui Hoa or Bo Ec, you will have a chance to greet them on the date.

And here are some fun facts about our engagement.

He randomly invited her to a dinner, and she was entirely unprepared.

The restaurant was recommended for authentic Italian pizzas, our utmost favourite.

Her pizza was wrongly ordered by his mistake.

He designed and custom-made the ring altogether.

The ring was a paw and a claw reaching to each other.

It was carried by our Pug plush, with his bone-toy, in his front pocket.

She loved everything. She said yes.

Harry Potter

Albeit Harry Potter world plays a big part in our journey, we always look towards the higher values hidden under the pages. From forums to Pages, we support young people in academic writing, critical thinking, and their English proficiency through studying the seven books. Utilising the viral of social network, we jointly provided the audience a wider knowledge about English culture, literature, social equity and how to critique in this digital era. Besides, we expanded our activities to cultural events, handicrafting activities or book reading promotion, specially thanks to the voluntary works from friends, old and new. We would turn to our thirties this year or next, but one thing we knew is that our spirits will always stay young as long as we work with these brilliant fresh minds.

Heart-Beating Each Other Since 2013

Hi Everyone!

We have created this website together to draw you a picture about our 6 year story, and then to help us prepare the best to welcome you at our wedding party on 01 January 2020.

Heart-beat obviously means that our hearts beat as one, but also a pun for beating hearts of each other. In quidditch, the sport we are deeply involved in, beating is an action where a player shoots a Bludger to another, causing a mini stun, and we proudly say that we have pleasantly got ‘beat’ by each other every single day.

2013

Our story started back in 2013, when we first time met at work. It was a small team doing a project, and we were both in a supporter team. Very shortly after the introduction where Van slowly involved in the team’s activities, we found synchronisation in our unpopular interests, and also in the way how our brains, differently from others, performed. The harmony in thinking developed our relationship quickly, and also paved the way to all the succeeding events.

2014

We, with a group of friends, developed the Hogwarts School forum and built the largest Harry Potter fan community in Vietnam together. She coded the technical functions and set up regulations, while he helped running the content, writing poems and activities.

2015

We, with some other friends, founded the first quidditch team – with a vague idea of how to play from Google – in Hanoi, named it Draco Dormiens. Later the same year, we went to the UK together. Although we were in different cities, but it only enriched our experience abroad. She spent her spare time working for the 9 3/4 Shop at King’s Cross, while he was busy representing the quidditch team of Leeds. Great time, Great Britain.

2017

After completing the masters, we settled ourselves with some jobs, but also held a bunch of activities for our Facebook Page – Hogwarts Vietnam, grew it to 200K followers and collaborated with some UK Identities in terms of developing not only Harry Potter, but also English culture and literature, and of course, quidditch. Our team were the host of Asian Quidditch Cup that year in Hanoi, attracting 5 clubs from Asia and Oceania.

2018

This year we successfully fundraised sufficiently to take 9 players from Vietnam (together with 9 from abroad) to get Team Vietnam to the Quidditch World Cup in Firenze, Italy, helping the team to finish at rank 15 over 29 participated countries.

Later this year, he founded The Burrow – a HP themed hostel in the Old Quarter, also promoting quidditch to a lot of travellers.

2019

Together with our team Hanoi Draco Dormiens, we challenged in the Asian Quidditch Cup in Seoul, earning the 4th place over 10 participants. Later the same year, we ranked second in the first ever Vietnam Quidditch Cup in Saigon.

In 2019, she founded Merchie – an e-commerce platform promoting artists’ design and also officialising the manufacture of quidditch supplies.

Quidditch

We are proud to set a basement for the development of this only coed full contact sport in Vietnam, and being a hub to connect local players to the global community. Together, we helped establish three teams in Hanoi and Saigon, jointly competed in national and international tournaments, as well as were present at the last two World Cups (2016, 2018) and will be at the next in the States (2020). Of course it’s hard to be pioneers, but the happiness from this work is totally worth it as we see the next generation of quidkids growing steadily in Vietnam. Continuing to further support the community towards competitiveness, athleticism, and equality is always our ultimate wish for this pro-libertarianism sport.

Travel

There are tourists, and there are travellers. We are more or less the third type, athletes – of course amateur. Playing a niche sport not only allows us to join a lot of international tournaments, but also offers genuine experience in the host country with friends almost everywhere. Such places include Leeds, London, Frankfurt, Kuala Lumpur or Seoul. Besides, we still managed to spend some fully-relaxing holidays together somewhere in this world. Our favourite picks are where offer exotic cuisine or peculiar characteristics, let’s say all parts of Italy (you’ll lose your appetite when you leave Italy), Liverpool of The Beatles, all museums and stories of London, the flexibility of Barcelona or sushi in Japan.
